In order to further enhance our HR operations, a new opportunity has been created within our dynamic and growing organisation to join our Head Office Employment Law team based in Tolworth as an Employee Relations Manager. This new, exciting and diverse role will lead a newly created Employee Relations team and support the hearing of colleague grievances on a national level.

As a manager, you will lead a team responsible for the hearing of employee grievances on a national level, ensuring they are carried out in line with policy and best practice, and managed in a fair, respectful, legal and effective manner. You will work closely with the Employee Relations Team Manager to ensure the function is meeting and aligning with the strategic objectives of the company.

What you'll do

  • Oversee a team of case managers and case support
  • Conduct grievance & employee relations hearings and appeals as appropriate
  • Conduct disciplinary processes, where required
  • Create and deliver coaching on case learnings
  • Make process improvement recommendations
  • Interpret and analyse trends to influence progress and performance, key trends, patterns and areas of focus
  • Ensure compliance and logging of all cases through the Case Management Tool
  • In conjunction with Employee Relations Team Manager, develop and implement local measures such as management upskilling to limit legal and internal non‑compliance risk, identifying risks, potential scenarios and options to mitigate

What you'll need

  • Experience in leading a team
  • Solid Employee Relations experience, advising middle management and up‑to‑date labour law knowledge
  • Experience of leading grievance investigations and delivering outcomes
  • Highly developed in handling complex, sensitive and confidential matters
  • Full understanding of ACAS codes
  • The ability to collaborate and share best practice with a range of stakeholders using your strong influencing skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and people skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Strong Google skills (desirable) and HR software proficiency
  • Experience within a retail or hospitality environment would be advantageous
  • A legal qualification/CIPD Level 7 (with specialist EL/advanced EL optional units) is desirable
