Everyone who works at Lidl brings something unique to the table - but we also have a whole lot in common. We're curious, collaborative, and ready to make a tangible impact on where we work. Just like you.

Our IT infrastructure department are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their team. You'll be a proactive and independent Senior Network Engineer and will play a pivotal role in our IT Core Infrastructure team. In this capacity, you'll not just administer networks; you'll act as a technical ambassador, bridging the gap between complex infrastructure challenges and business goals for Lidl GB and International operations. While you'll provide essential expertise in Wireless Networking, this role requires a broad senior mindset. We are looking for a Senior consultant who can "step up and step in" whenever required - you'll be someone who independently tracks market trends, identifies gaps, and brings fresh ideas to the table to drive continuous improvement. At Lidl, we offer a hybrid working model to give you the best of both worlds.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as a representative for the Network Team during business engagements.
  • Translate business needs into technical designs and communicate constraints effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Oversee the stability and performance of the wider network, with specific accountability for maintaining and optimizing the corporate WLAN infrastructure across challenging environments.
  • Proactively monitor the IT landscape and market trends.
  • Independently propose new technologies or process improvements that enhance efficiency or stability.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept to completion, including design, implementation, and documentation.
  • ‘Step in’ to resolve high-priority escalations (WAN/LAN/WLAN), manage asset inventories, and oversee Change Control (CAB) processes.
  • Model best practices for the wider team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.

What you’ll need:

  • Deep understanding of networking principles, ideally with cross-sectional experience working to CCNP level or above.
  • Strong, essential capabilities in designing and supporting critical wireless networks (WLAN) in complex environments (distribution centres, warehouses).
  • Experience configuring and supporting enterprise-class Cisco LAN products and WLAN hardware.
  • Professional attributes (the 'Senior' mindset): possess the initiative to identify problems and fix them, and the confidence to work with minimal supervision.
  • An ambassador for the department and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with business departments and third-party partners.
  • Initiative to 'step up' during crises and 'step in' to support colleagues, working well under pressure.
  • Strategic mindset able to look beyond the 'fix' to find the 'solution', constantly seeking ways to improve the network based on industry developments.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center or Huawei Cloud Portal is desirable.
  • Experience with Fortinet Firewalls (FortiGate/FortiManager) would be advantageous.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Knowledge of VoIP and QoS.

What you’ll receive:

  • 35 days holiday (pro rata)
  • 10% in-store discount
  • Sabbatical
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Pension scheme
  • Plus, more of the perks you deserve
  • Includes 10% non-contractual London Weighting Allowance

Note: This role requires providing 'Out of Hours Support' on a scheduled rotation and may require travel and overnight stays. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds. Join us to celebrate individuality and grow in a fair, respectful, and inclusive environment.
