Lichfield Cathedral School is a flourishing co-educational independent school in Staffordshire for ages 2 to 18. Our school community is based on core values of learning, faith, leadership and service, whose purpose is to educate and inspire young people to become confident, enthusiastic and responsible members of society.
Set in the historic Cathedral Close and the scenic village of Longdon, we draw upon our substantial heritage to provide an exceptional education. We work hard to provide an imaginative and challenging curriculum that focuses on academic excellence, music, the creative and performing arts, sports and service to the community. We are proud to have created a happy and supportive environment nurturing the talents that each child has within.
This is an exciting time for Lichfield Cathedral School, as we are expanding our current, exceptional, Nursery to include school holiday provision. We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join our friendly Junior School team and work in our new, all year-round Nursery, as an Early Years Educator.
The position will be working closely with our Nursery Manager to ensure our youngest children are cared for throughout the school day, after school, and during the holidays for 50 weeks per year. It is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to join the team at our Longdon site, be creative and imaginative, and build this part of the business.
The role will include delivering an engaging programme of activities and implementing the EYFS framework for children, and candidates should demonstrate when they have done this in their applications. It is so important to us that our youngest children are given the opportunities to learn, grow and flourish and we can nurture them through these important early stages of their play and learning.
We will be expanding the facilities and resources of our current Nursery at our Junior School site, which already offers excellent indoor facilities, outdoor play areas, growing areas, forest school areas and much more.
You will have an ability to build, develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all children, parents and colleagues alike. All staff are expected to contribute to the wider aspects of school life.
The successful candidate must hold an approved qualification of level 3 or above and have a minimum of 2 years of experience within an early years setting. You would also need to hold a level 2 qualification in Maths or be willing to gain this qualification within 2 years of starting the role.
The hours for this role are 5 days per week, 8:30am to 4:30pm. A degree of flexibility would be useful as the Nursery develops and grows, and there may also be the flexibility of this role working with our ‘Schools Out’ Holiday club for our Reception to Y6 children.
There may be the opportunity for the Early Years Educator to be a term time only position, or all year round. If you could make your preference clear at the point of application, we will consider all candidates.
The closing date for applications is Midday Friday 20th February 2026, with interviews happening on a rolling basis.
If you are interested in applying for this position, please complete an application form via our online portal. Please visit for further information about the school.
Lichfield Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all applicants will be subject to DBS disclosure in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice.
