Making sure AI works for you, not you for AI. Lichen AI gives companies the tools and experiences needed to reimagine their own business processes around the people who power them, and unlock the real value of AI for their operations. We’re a 3-person, early stage founding team based in Cambridge UK. By bringing together scalable approaches from human-centred interaction design, product management, and tech strategy, we help organisations uncover the tacit knowledge and cultural insight within their teams, to build AI systems that enhance rather than erase that depth. Our agentic platform helps companies understand their teams through AI-powered interviews, then turns those insights into actionable strategy.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Research Analyst to join a project exploring how professional services associates experience and evaluate their training. The project uses a newly developed AI interviewing tool to conduct structured qualitative interviews and responses will be automatically analysed and synthesised across participants. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of qualitative research and emerging AI technology.
What you'll do
- Review and internalise the research brief to develop a thorough understanding of the study’s objectives, target audience, and key lines of enquiry.
- Configure and manage the AI interviewing tool to conduct qualitative interviews with associates about their training experiences, development needs, and perceptions of training effectiveness.
- Monitor live AI-led interviews to ensure quality, relevance, and appropriate depth of questioning; flag any issues with interview flow or participant experience.
- Conduct independent qualitative analysis of interview transcripts to validate and quality-assure the AI-generated outputs, identifying themes, patterns, and insights.
- Compare AI-produced analysis against your own findings to assess accuracy, completeness, and nuance, documenting discrepancies and areas for improvement.
- Act as the primary liaison between the research team and the technical development team, providing structured, actionable feedback on tool performance, usability, and output quality.
- Proactively test new features and iterations of the AI tool, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to refining the platform through detailed bug reports and enhancement suggestions.
- Contribute to final reporting and presentation of research findings to stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
We are hoping for candidates with a combination of the following skills, you don’t need to have experience in all the items below to apply. We know that great candidates come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Experience in qualitative research methods, including thematic analysis for synthesis of interview data.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate whether AI-generated insights accurately reflect source material.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to research rigour.
- Comfortable working with new and evolving technology; a willingness to learn, experiment, and adapt to an AI tool that is still in development.
- Clear and constructive communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical feedback to a development team in a structured and solution-oriented manner.
- An interest in or familiarity with the legal and professional services sector.
- Prior experience with AI tools, research platforms and user acceptance testing.
The chance to shape a novel AI research tool from the ground up and directly influence its development. Exposure to cutting-edge applications of AI in qualitative research. A collaborative, innovative working environment that values curiosity and initiative.
We'd love to hear about your experience and what draws you to this work - even if you don't meet all the criteria above.
