Are you looking for a laboratory based QC Chemist role with experience in chemical manufacturing?

Reporting to the Lab R&D Manager, you will take ownership of daily laboratory testing, batch approvals, and technical problem-solving.

This is a dynamic, practical role ideal for someone with a sharp eye for detail who enjoys working closely with production teams to maintain exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • QC Testing: Test raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products against strict specifications.
  • Lab Analysis: Conduct tests for viscosity, density, p H, opacity, gloss, drying time, and stability.
  • Colour & Quality: Assist with colour matching, shade adjustments, and tinting accuracy.
  • Batch Release: Review results, spot trends, and manage batch approvals or out-of-spec findings.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production, quality, and customer technical issues.
  • Lab Maintenance: Prepare samples and drawdowns, maintain accurate QC records, and calibrate equipment.

Requirements

  • Previous background in a QC, lab, or testing role (ideally coatings, chemicals, or manufacturing).
  • Science degree, HNC/HND, or strong equivalent practical lab experience.
  • Understanding of liquid testing (viscosity, p H, colour, batch control).
  • High attention to detail, proactive problem-solver, and a strong communicator.
  • A full UK driving licence is highly advantageous.
