The Opportunity
We are working with a manufacturing chemical company who are involved in the development of products in a range of categories impacting customer product experiences. They are known for providing a trusted and reliable product, which helps to reduce costs and machine downtime through better chemistry as well as providing ecological benefits. The Chemist will work in the chemical formulation and development of these product categories.
What You’ll Do
- Formulation & R&D: Developing next-generation products and reformulating existing products to drive cost savings and performance boosts.
- Scale-Up & Trials: Moving from lab batches to plant trials, including occasional travel to production sites in the UK and Europe.
- Supplier Collaboration: Meeting with suppliers to scout novel raw materials and negotiating prices to ensure commercial viability.
- Compliance & QC: Meticulously recording data, managing MSDS and REACH statements, and ensuring ISO9001 compliance.
- Technical Support: Assisting with customer technical tests, creating sample coatings, and even supporting patent applications.
Your Background
- We are looking for a practical, detail-oriented Chemist with a solid foundation in product development.
- Education: HND or degree in a Science-based subject (Chemistry or Physics preferred).
- Experience: In a formulation-centric role (Inks, Coatings, Resins, Sealants, or Polymers).
- Proven Track Record: Experience taking products from the initial scope through to full-scale commercialisation.
- Mobility: A full driving license for travel within the UK and Europe.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office for data recording and reporting.
This role is ideal for an experienced Formulator looking for a supportive environment.
