As a Laboratory Technician, you will carry out both routine and non-routine quality control analysis, directly contributing to the verification of incoming raw materials, in-process testing, and comprehensive final product analysis. This role will operate in support of a manufacturing plant environment which runs on a 24 hour basis with you providing weekday night shift analytical support to the team between Monday 10pm and Saturday 6am.
What you’ll do
The role is mostly a laboratory based job which provides analytical data to the wider team. This will involve analysis of a range of chemical products such as surfactants, providing detailed raw material, in-process and final product testing. The core lab techniques are:
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC)
- Colorimetric and potentiometric titrations
- Karl Fischer moisture analysis and Loss on Drying
- pH and Specific Gravity measurements
- Brookfield Viscosity determinations
- Ion Chromatography
- Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Ultraviolet (UV) Spectroscopy
Your background
We are seeking a candidate from a range of backgrounds in chemistry or related fields; training will be provided on the equipment. The role holder must be able to arrive by 10pm and finish work at 6am, ideally able to drive or live close to the site in Irlam. Either a graduate or someone qualified via experience. Experience with HPLC and GC analysis is advantageous but not mandatory. The role requires comfort working on a night shift basis.
