Founded in 1875, our long history has been built on innovation, craftsmanship and above all, incredible talent. Born from the adventurous spirit of our founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, we remain true to our heritage. From our fulfilment centres to our flagship store, passion, vision and dynamism are part of our DNA – and that extends to our team.
We are looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to join Liberty's Digital team, playing a key role in the ongoing development and evolution of our digital platforms. You will take ownership of the in-house front-end implementation across LibertyLondon.com, the Fabrics site, and supporting digital touchpoints such as email and experimentation platforms. You will help shape high-quality, performant, and accessible user experiences that reflect Liberty's brand and drive commercial outcomes. While the primary focus is web-based, future initiatives may include native or hybrid app experiences, so experience working across multiple platforms — or contributing to app-adjacent front-end architecture — would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead front-end development across LibertyLondon.com (Salesforce Commerce Cloud) and the Fabrics site (WordPress), ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Translate design systems, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs into robust, scalable, and accessible front-end solutions.
- Own and influence front-end architectural decisions, balancing long-term maintainability with delivery needs.
- Partner with Product and Design to shape technical approaches early in the discovery and planning process.
- Design, build, and deploy MVT and A/B complex experiments using Dynamic Yield, collaborating with analytics and optimisation teams to improve conversion and usability.
- Support HTML email development, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and responsiveness across clients and devices.
- Champion front-end best practices, including performance optimisation, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Conduct thorough QA and code reviews, identifying issues early and ensuring high-quality releases.
- Act as a senior technical voice within the team, sharing knowledge, mentoring others where appropriate, and helping raise overall engineering standards.
About You:
- Sound experience as a Front-End Developer, including senior or lead roles within ecommerce, digital retail, or content-rich platforms.
- Proven ability to lead or influence front-end architecture and technical decisions on large-scale websites.
- Strong expertise in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, with deep knowledge of responsive design, performance optimisation, and accessibility best practices.
- Experience designing and delivering A/B or MVT experiments, ideally using Dynamic Yield or similar tools.
- Strong problem-solver with high attention to detail, balancing technical quality with delivery pace.
- Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud and/or WordPress.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks and tooling (e.g. Handlebars.js, PHP, Bootstrap).
- Experience in luxury, fashion, or brand-led ecommerce environments.
