The Security Officer role involves working permanent days, permanent nights, and a mixture of days and nights when required. The main objective is to carry out comprehensive Security and Safety duties, ensuring a safe environment for staff, customers, contractors, and visitors.
Security Duties- Handles complaints, investigates and processes written reports on customer or employee injuries, thefts, assaults, vandalism and other relevant security incidents.
- Assists security team members in the apprehension of shoplifters in accordance with Liberty policy and procedures.
- Uses and is fully conversant with software systems including CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, fire system and any IT security equipment.
- Ensures that all customers, visitors, contractors, and staff feel safe at all times by displaying a confident, positive attitude.
- Deals with retail departmental queries related to security, encouraging departments to be security-aware.
- Handles all customers/visitors, staff and colleagues in a polite and courteous manner.
- Completes relevant procedures regarding store opening and closing duties.
- Maintains the Health, Safety and Welfare of both staff and customers.
- Complies with and implements Emergency Procedures when required.
- Responds professionally to any first aid incidents and completes reports as required.
- Opens Cash Office and distributes cash bags.
- Emails daily reports for Sales Managers outlining cash discrepancies.
- Controls and orders change floats, issues change and ensures sufficient stock for shop floor needs.
The ideal candidate will have some experience within security, be customer-focused and able to maintain the Health, Safety and Welfare of both staff and customers. Good communication skills are key, and a background in a similar retail security role would be an advantage.
