Job Description

Introduction:

Founded in 1875, our long history has been built on innovation, craftsmanship and above all, incredible talent. Born from the adventurous spirit of our founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, we remain true to our heritage. From our fulfilment centres to our flagship store, passion, vision and dynamism are part of our DNA – and that extends to our team.

Job Purpose:

As a Product Designer at Liberty, you will support the design and delivery of engaging, user-friendly digital experiences. Working as part of the product design team, you’ll contribute to projects across Liberty’s ecommerce platform and other digital touchpoints.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills, gain experience across the full product design process, and learn from more senior designers while contributing to real customer-facing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that clearly communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Support the design of new features and enhancements for Liberty’s ecommerce platform and digital products, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.
  • Translate customer needs and business goals into simple, elegant, and effective design solutions.
  • Ensure all designs are mobile-first, accessible, and aligned with Liberty’s brand guidelines and visual identity.
  • Participate in usability testing and customer research, helping to plan sessions, observe user behaviour, and apply insights to improve designs.
  • Assist in designing and planning user tests, including A/B tests and usability studies, to evaluate design solutions and inform improvements.
  • Work independently on defined project phases, consistently delivering user-centred solutions with reliability and focus.
  • Contribute to the documentation of design decisions, design patterns, and guidelines to support team knowledge sharing.
  • Stay curious about design trends, tools, and emerging best practices, bringing new ideas and inspiration to the team.
  • Collaborate with developers during handoff to ensure that the final product matches design intent and meets quality standards.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior designers, product managers, analysts, digital optimisation managers, and developers on cross-functional projects, contributing design expertise at each stage of the process.
  • Participate actively in team workshops, brainstorming sessions, and planning meetings to help shape shared solutions.
  • Contribute to design critiques by presenting your work, listening to feedback, and applying suggestions constructively to improve outcomes.
  • Help maintain and contribute to Liberty’s design system, ensuring components are consistent, accessible, and scalable across products.
  • Build strong working relationships across disciplines, supporting alignment around shared goals, priorities, and customer needs.
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, helping to explain design ideas and advocate for user-centred solutions.
  • Support collaboration between design and development teams by preparing design documentation and assets for smooth handoff.

About You:

  • Passion for ecommerce, design, and creating great user experiences.
  • Experience designing digital products.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A strong eye for detail in layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Willingness to learn about UX/UI principles, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is desirable.
  • Previous experience is Contentsquare and or Dynamic Yield is desirable.
