Purpose
To lead a team of 3 FTE to deliver Import and Export needs for internal customers across Liberty Retail and Liberty Products Wholesale. To provide expertise, analysis and inform strategy and best practice regarding imports and exports of goods to all relevant Liberty business functions.
Key accountabilities
- Manage and guide the day-to-day activities of organising and delivering shipments from suppliers in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Ensure cost parameters for inbound purchase orders are properly calibrated and not breached
- Regularly report against the inbound pipeline of goods
- Handle booking of transport and customs clearance for inbound and outbound shipments, including all necessary documentation
- Own the relationship with third party freight forwarders, establish SLAs and report and manage against them
- Seek cost-saving opportunities through process improvement, consolidation of inbound deliveries and through 3rd party negotiation/tender
- Provide internal training and advice on best practice to support improvements in transit time or cost
- Keeping up to date on changes to legislation regarding global cross border trade and adapt accordingly
- Ensure B&M are given the proper information to ensure their standard costs are accurate and PPV kept as low as possible
- Consult with Merchandising throughout the planning cycle from forecast to delivery, seeking to find improvements in our supply chain from both financial and environmental points of view (e.g. freight consolidation, carbon footprint etc.)
- Identify business risks in terms of additional trade compliance regulations (e.g. timber regulations) and ensuring product owners are managing the additional requirements
- Track and report on shipment costs as a percentage of shipment value.
- Organise and improve workflow of shipment requests internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with overseas product and tax legislation and investigate the same for any new wholesale customer prospects

Personal Qualities & Experience
- Extensive knowledge of global import and export via road, air and sea
- Experience managing a team of import/export co-ordinators
- Extensive experience in wholesale logistics
- Knowledge of cross-border trade, duties, tariff regimes and customs clearance procedures
- Good understanding of European VAT regimes
- Experience in the preparation of certificates for export (Certificate of Origin, EUR1, ATR, Carnet)
- Comfortable working across multiple and varied product types and customs jurisdictions
- Strong IT and Excel skills
