At Liberty, our Archive is the heart of our heritage. Home to more than 60,000 artworks collected since Arthur Lasenby Liberty founded the iconic London store in 1875, our archive chronicles 150 years of design innovation, from the Arts & Crafts movement to bespoke contemporary collaborations. We're looking for a full-time Archive Assistant to join our Liberty Fabrics team. Based in our Great Marlborough Street design studios, you'll support the research, care and promotion of our celebrated textile archive.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct archive research in response to design briefs, using our collections management system (iBase).
  • Maintain and develop archive records and support the care of our physical collections, including visits to our off-site archive.
  • Work closely alongside the design teams to collate, label, package and archive artwork, samples and related sales materials for seasonal collections.
  • Support copyright clearance and due diligence processes.
  • Assist with archive visits, exhibitions and special events.
  • Respond to archive enquiries from internal teams, customers and external partners.
  • Provide historical and contextual research to support product development, marketing and storytelling.
  • Maintain supplies of archive equipment and process invoices.

What We Would Love to See

Our ideal candidate will have a background in art, design, archives, museums or information management, with experience responding to creative briefs in a design-led environment. This role is well suited to an early-career archive, museum or information management professional looking to develop their experience within a globally recognised design brand.

You'll Bring

  • Knowledge of collections care, including preventative conservation and object handling.
  • Experience working with museum or collections management databases.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a methodical approach to research and administration.
  • The ability to balance creative enquiry with accurate record-keeping.
  • Confidence working collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Knowledge of 19th and 20th century British art and design history would be an advantage.
