We are looking for a Technical Manager to oversee the technical management of our incredible wine portfolio. This role will act as the primary interface between the company, producers, and customers, ensuring compliance, quality, and consistency across all technical matters.

You will play a pivotal role in driving the development of our portfolio by identifying opportunities for growth, aligning the right technical capabilities with the needs of producers and customers, and ensuring high standards of governance, operational excellence, and reputation are maintained.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and update technical procedures, including auditing, data collection, and producer analysis
  • Serve as the technical contact for Liberty Wines customers, particularly key National Accounts both on On and Off Trade.
  • Act as point of contact for producers regarding specific technical requirements from customers
  • Support successful audit outcomes, attend audits and initial productions, and follow up on non-conformances
  • Ensure product specifications are kept accurate and up to date for all relevant listings
  • Maintain filing systems and technical documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement and assessment of technical practices
  • Ensure compliance with legislation relating to production, labelling, and import/export of wine
  • Work closely with National Accounts teams on tenders and opportunities
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests for information from customers, colleagues, and suppliers

About you

  • A degree in Oenology, Food Science or an equivalent science‑related discipline
  • Proven experience in a technical management or technical assistant role within the wine industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of:
  • HACCP
  • BRC / ISO / equivalent food safety certification
  • winery practices / bottling
  • winery risk assessments
  • Practical winemaking and vintage experience
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, with strong negotiation and decision‑making skills
  • Highly organised and efficient, with excellent communication skills; numerate and computer literate
  • Commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service
