We are seeking a commercially minded Head of Trade Marketing to lead the development and delivery of marketing strategies across our wine portfolio. This is a high-impact role with responsibility for driving brand growth, customer engagement and commercial performance. Reporting into the Marketing and Strategy Director, you will foster strong collaboration across Sales, Buying and Brand Management teams to ensure unified planning and execution that elevates Liberty Wine's position in the market.
Role Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive trade marketing strategy aligned with Liberty Wine's vision and commercial objectives.
- Manage the overall marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of trips and events that maximise return on investment.
- Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary marketing team, promoting a collaborative, customer‑centric approach.
- Share expertise, insights and best practice with marketing colleagues in other teams.
- Work with Portfolio/Champagne team colleagues to identify marketing opportunities to strengthen the brand of Liberty Wines and the relevant producer.
- Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional projects, working closely with Sales, Portfolio and Customer Support teams to agree processes and timelines, and ensure accountability for delivery.
- Marketing
- Establish clear processes, timelines, and accountability for all marketing activities, ensuring tools and workflows are optimised for maximum efficiency and impact.
- Set direction for customer trips and producer visit itineraries, working with the Head of Commercial Operations to use data and insights to evaluate and prioritise activities so resources focus on those that deliver the greatest commercial impact and strengthen brand reputation.
- Oversee the timely compilation of new vintage fact sheets for each wine and coordination of wine award entries, ensuring timely and accurate submissions that support producer visibility.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality marketing support for Sales, including customised event collateral and training tools.
- Communications
- Maintain Liberty Wines' brand identity, tone of voice, and messaging across all channels.
- Oversee creation of compelling content for customer communications and press engagement across all appropriate channels, working closely with the portfolio team on relevant producer content.
- Lead Liberty Wines' social media strategy and oversee content creation and drive digital innovation to enhance customer engagement and brand visibility.
- Guide press engagement strategy to maximise coverage for Liberty Wines and its producers.
- Oversee tracking and reporting of communications and press strategy and its commercial impact.
- Events Management
- Provide strategic oversight for Liberty Wines' events calendar, including portfolio tastings, category tastings, producer masterclasses, and external trade events.
- Ensure events reflect Liberty Wines' brand identity, while tailoring them to best reflect the nature of the event, provide an exceptional experience for attendees and achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Work with the Head of Commercial Operations to use data and insights to evaluate past events and improve future planning.
- Design
- Oversee design and production of all marketing materials, including annual price lists, promotional magazines, event collateral, and customer collateral, including wine lists, labels and POS.
- Ensure creative output reflects brand standards and supports commercial objectives.
About You
- Proven track record in developing and implementing trade marketing strategies to help achieve commercial objectives.
- Experience in event strategy and execution within a B2B or trade environment.
- Experience building communications strategy and able to effectively review draft communications to improve their effectiveness.
- Experienced in driving collaborative projects across teams, ensuring clear processes, timelines, and accountability.
- Comfortable leveraging analytics to evaluate marketing effectiveness and ROI.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on team growth and development; experienced managing multi-disciplinary teams and budgets.
- Commercially focused, customer-centric and highly organized.
- Strong knowledge of and empathy for the hospitality and retail sectors.
- Strong wine empathy, ideally a minimum of WSET Level 3.
