As Financial Accountant, you will provide key support to the Financial Controller (FC) in maintaining the group's financial control environment, statutory compliance, and reporting processes. The role offers broad exposure across financial accounting, including stock and fixed asset accounting, month-end reporting, audit support, and budgeting activities. It is an excellent opportunity for an ACCA/CIMA studier (or equivalent) looking to develop practical experience within a fast-paced and growing business environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation and consolidation of group accounts in accordance with UK GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and key ledgers.
- Support the accounting, tracking, and reporting of fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Assist with stock accounting and inventory reconciliations, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
- Complete statutory compliance activities and support the preparation of VAT, corporation tax, and other statutory filings.
- Help coordinate the statutory audit and liaise with external auditors.
- Work with the FC to review and improve internal controls across the group.
- Help monitor daily and weekly cashflow (multi-currency), ensuring accuracy and flagging any variances.
- Support with the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles providing variance analysis and insights.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports as requested by the Financial Controller to support strategic projects, investment appraisals and operational performance.
- Maintain clear documentation of financial processes, controls, and treasury procedures.
About you
- Actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
- Experience in finance, accounting, or audit environments is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP.
- Strong Excel and IT skills (Experience with Microsoft NAV desired but not essential).
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communicator able to work with both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and able to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Ability to take direction and support the FC in a variety of projects.
