About the Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of an established insurance brokerage in West London, seeking an experienced Insurance Broking Accounts (IBA) professional to join its business.

This is an opportunity suited to candidates at different stages of their IBA careers, from experienced IBA Technicians looking to develop their expertise to established IBA Managers and Senior IBA Managers who are confident taking ownership of an accounts function.

Our client is open to appointing at IBA Technician, IBA Manager or Senior IBA Manager level, depending on the successful candidate's technical knowledge, practical experience and ability to work independently.

This is a single recruitment opportunity, with the position and responsibilities tailored to the successful candidate's level of experience.

Which Level Suits Your Experience?

Ideal for a technically capable insurance accounts professional with at least three years' relevant experience who is confident performing day-to-day IBA duties and looking to develop further.

You should have a solid understanding of premium processing, reconciliations, insurer settlements and insurance accounting principles.

Candidates with strong relevant experience who have not yet used Acturis may also be considered, with training available.

IBA Manager

Suited to an experienced, hands-on IBA professional who can independently manage core insurance accounts processes, resolve complex discrepancies and ensure the accurate processing of financial transactions.

You should be comfortable taking responsibility for day-to-day IBA operations, including reconciliations, insurer settlements, client money procedures and credit control.

Strong practical Acturis experience and the ability to work with minimal supervision will be important.

Senior IBA Manager

Designed for an accomplished IBA professional with extensive technical expertise and a proven ability to independently manage and take full ownership of an insurance broking accounts function.

You must be confident overseeing end-to-end IBA operations, maintaining robust financial controls, managing complex accounting matters and ensuring the accounts function runs accurately and efficiently.

The ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounts function is essential for senior-level candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the level of appointment but may include:

• Processing and allocating client premiums, insurer payments and other insurance-related transactions.
• Completing bank reconciliations, insurer statement reconciliations and client money reconciliations.
• Managing insurer settlements and ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time.
• Monitoring outstanding premiums, undertaking credit control and resolving unpaid balances.
• Processing refunds, return premiums, commission and brokerage reconciliations.
• Preparing and reviewing client money calculations and supporting compliance with FCA client money requirements.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records and processing transactions through Acturis.
• Investigating discrepancies, resolving accounting queries and liaising with brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders.
• Supporting month-end processes, reporting and the maintenance of accurate financial records.
• Improving accounting procedures, reconciliation processes and financial controls where appropriate.
• For managerial appointments, taking independent responsibility for day-to-day IBA operations and the effective running of the accounts function.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience within insurance broking accounts, IBA or closely related insurance accounting roles.
• Minimum 2 years' hands-on Acturis experience preferred, ideally with regular system usage. Strong junior-level candidates without Acturis experience may be considered for full training.
• A thorough understanding of insurance accounting principles and processes.
• Practical knowledge of premium allocations, insurer settlements, reconciliations and associated financial transactions.
• Understanding of client money procedures and the importance of accurate financial controls.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines and investigate discrepancies effectively.
• Good communication skills and a professional, proactive approach.
• For managerial and senior-level applicants, demonstrable ability to work independently, manage responsibilities and take ownership of IBA operations.

Practical IBA experience and technical ability will be key factors in determining the appropriate appointment level.
