A highly regarded specialist law firm is seeking an experienced Community Care Solicitor to join its growing legal aid team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and ambitious solicitor to join a firm recognised for its commitment to access to justice and high-quality representation for vulnerable individuals.
The role will involve managing a varied claimant community care and public law caseload, acting on behalf of vulnerable adults, children, disabled individuals, and elderly clients in challenges against local authorities and public bodies. You will be responsible for advising and representing clients across a broad range of matters involving social services duties, care provision, safeguarding, and judicial review-related issues.
The firm is looking for someone confident managing their own files, capable of working independently, and committed to delivering excellent client care in often sensitive and complex matters.
Key Responsibilities:- Managing a diverse caseload of community care and public law matters
- Advising clients on challenges against local authority and social services decisions
- Handling matters involving: assessments and care plans, safeguarding duties, judicial review challenges, Court of Protection-related issues
- Conducting negotiations, correspondence, and advocacy where appropriate
- Managing legal aid applications, billing, and CCMS processes
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements
- Maintaining accurate time recording and file management
- Supporting junior staff and contributing to the wider team where appropriate
- Keeping up to date with legal and policy developments within community care and public law
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience handling community care and/or Court of Protection matters
- Strong knowledge of public law and legal aid work
- Experience managing legally aided claimant files independently
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable client groups
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working to targets and deadlines
- Good working knowledge of CCMS and Legal Aid Agency requirements
