Are you an experienced Private Client / Tax & Estate Planning Associate looking to work with high and ultra-high net worth clients on complex, often international matters? We’re partnering with a highly regarded mid-sized City law firm to recruit an Associate for their thriving Tax & Estate Planning team, part of a wider, well-established Private Client Services department (including Family and Private Client Property).
The work
- Act for a broad range of UK and international HNW and UHNW individuals and families, including work sourced via a European office.
- Typical matters include:
- Complex onshore and offshore tax and estate planning
- Trust and probate administration
- Inheritance, capital gains and income tax mitigation
- Wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney
- Advising on the affairs of vulnerable or incapacitated clients
- Charity administration and wider private client advisory work
You’ll run your own files, support on larger matters, and enjoy genuine client contact, operational independence and strong partner support. You’ll also have access to a Legal PA and be able to delegate work to a trainee where appropriate.

- Day-to-day conduct of matters under partner supervision
- Providing clear, commercial and technically sound advice
- Drafting high-quality documents and correspondence
- Contributing to supervision and development of trainees
- Recording and managing time effectively and billing promptly
- Playing an active role in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Supporting business development and client relationship management
About you
- Solid experience in inheritance, trusts and taxation, with particular strength in onshore and offshore tax and estate planning
- Experience delivering complex tax advice to HNW/UHNW clients
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and other professionals
- Emotional intelligence, professionalism and a collaborative approach
- A genuine interest in business development and departmental marketing
- A positive, enthusiastic team spirit and alignment with a modern, collegiate culture
