About the Role:

As the London distribution market continues to evolve and the bifurcation of placement amongst our broking partners increases, this role will support the development of our Market Tracker and Portfolio Solutions strategy within LII London and will be responsible for the delivery through our distribution partners.

The role will dual report into the Head of London Specialty and the LII Business Chief Actuary - UK & MENA.

About the Department & Team:

The London Specialty division houses 7 classes of business, Contingency, Entertainment P&C, Equine, Personal Accident, Specie, Terrorism and Market Trackers.

Market Trackers underwrite and manage several new and existing broker portfolios that include multiple product classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of LSM Market Tracker distribution strategy.
  • Proactively analyse Global Risk Solutions, Liberty, Lloyd’s and other market data and insights to support the delivery of analytical tools to identify claims trends, loss ratios, market trends and variables to trading positions and performance across the business segments.
  • Provide recommendations for portfolio optimisation to increase Liberty profitability and yield within Market Tracker portfolios.
  • Foster and develop external relationships with key strategic broker partners and other key collaborators to support our strategy.
  • Support the development and deployment of data analytics and business intelligence solutions to support decision making rules of engagement.
  • Develop and maintain performance and portfolio dashboards to provide real time insights.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to identify and optimise Market Tracker opportunities including Actuarial, Business Development, Claims, MI and Underwriting.
  • Ensuring consistency and best practice approach to technical rating.
  • Supporting feedback loops between the business planning process, reserving with pricing.
  • Compliance and reporting against internal and Regulatory Best Practice pricing and underwriting risk management standards.
  • Provide the highest quality professional service to the business in all aspects of the above responsibilities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a non-life pricing team, ideally within the London Market. Relevant experience from consulting, commercial or personal lines also welcome
  • Strong IT skills – advanced knowledge of MS Excel and the standard MS Office suite is essential. Other experience of working with other big data manipulation and visualisation software such as SQL and Power BI or similar would also be an advantage (although not a starting pre‑requisite) for the role, as would analytics coding experience in packages such as R, Python or similar.
  • Analytical problem solver with outstanding verbal and written skills, communicating with a range of internal and external clients of varying experience, expertise and appreciation of actuarial techniques.
  • Commercially minded, with gravitas to influence and negotiate on well‑considered risk‑based decision making.
  • Proven track record of delegation and people development skills. Ability to work both independently or as part of a wider project team. Flexibility and self‑discipline to manage time and competing priorities.
  • A growth mindset - highly focused, motivated and committed to ongoing personal learning and development.
