About the Role

  • We are seeking an experienced and hard‑working Senior Casualty Claims Specialist with a strong work ethic, to support our clients through delivery of a first‑class claims and customer experience.
  • Help achieve our vision of being a leading provider of innovative commercial claims solutions.
  • Handling and resolving claims efficiently and fairly in accordance with the Claims Charter/Code of Conduct and Claims Process Guidelines.
  • Working closely with the Casualty Claims Managers, the Head of Casualty Claims and Head of Third Party Claims to deliver company goals whilst promoting LSM’s core values.
  • The role will require strong technical knowledge, a flexible approach and sound claims handling judgement across all Casualty and associated lines of business to ensure outstanding customer service.

About the Department & Team

  • LSM’s Claims department handles claims through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including analysis of new notifications, policy coverage, liability and quantum, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves and making claims payments as required.
  • The Casualty Claims team handles claims across multiple classes of business including UK and Ireland, US High Excess and Environmental Impairment Liability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively handle a cross section of Casualty claims from first advice to closure, investigate policy coverage, liability, quantum, set and review the reserve and strategy throughout the life of the claim.
  • At all times follow the authority requirements, claims reserving philosophy and claims standards with appropriate referral.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders throughout the life of the claim, including but not limited to the policyholder, broker, co‑insurers, actuaries and underwriters.
  • Working constructively with and handling approved Panel lawyers, adjusters and TPA, including management oversight, provision of technical direction and financial authority as required.
  • Ensure good file maintenance and record keeping at all times.
  • Promote the LSM Claims Charter and Code of Conduct delivering excellence in client service.
  • Works with Claims Manager and Head of Casualty Claims supporting internal audit and reporting requirements.
  • Contributing to the business’ thought leadership, developing new ideas, and research to support LSM’s underwriting, and claims strategies.
  • Enhancing the exposure and profile of the Claims team through the Claims+ offering, attendance at market meetings, and working with our Claims Business Development team to explore business development opportunities as required.
  • Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. Skills and Experience

  • Established experience in the London Market in Casualty classes
  • Requires advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, IT and product competition within the marketplace.
  • Knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements as required
  • The ability to effectively interact with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders is essential.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and decision‑making skills with experience in large loss reporting.
  • Flexible with an understanding of claims in a changing environment to support the efficient operation of the claims team.
  • Able to identify, monitor and report on market loss trends.
  • Experience in mentoring less experienced members of staff.
