The Portfolio Data Architect role is vital in providing the technical and data architecture guidance to the Business Agility, LII and Liberty Mutual Re Business Stakeholders. This role will be primarily working with the Director of Enterprise Architecture, Head of Data & Analytics and Heads of Portfolios spanning across a number of initiatives within the LII and LM Re.
About the Department & Team: The CIO Function reports into the Chief Information Officer, responsible for the delivery of key technical services to the LSM Business ranging from technology to business processes. The team provides the architecture and the delivery skills and resources required to support business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Works with LSM and GRS Product Analysts, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and Business SMEs to determine the solutions data scope by understanding the business data requirements driving the solution.
- Collaborates with the Portfolio Technical Leads and GRS Data Architects to leverage and contribute to architecture artefacts and documentation ensuring that the solution data architecture is implemented in alignment with the overall strategy and aligned to the architecture vision.
- Works with the Solution Architects to design the end-to-end solution data flows sourcing data from approved data sources (masters) and highlighting any gaps.
- Designs and documents conceptual and logical data models to support the overall solution, data and business requirements utilising specialised data modelling tools.
- Develops models to meet all functional requirements and provides input on non-functional aspects such as sizing, quality, performance and scalability.
- Creates or validates mapping of data across sources, based on data content and catalogue.
- Works with the business to determine and document the applicable data quality standards that the data used in the solution needs to adhere to.
- Collaborates with the CDO Office to ensure adherence with Data Governance and Standards.
- Optimisation, implementation and maintenance of the LII Data Architecture Strategy in line with GRS Architecture Standards and Principles.
Skills and Experience
- Previous Insurance Industry experience is preferred.
- Must have experience in Insurance Data Domain and industry standards such as ACORD.
- Strong technical background with a solid track record of delivering solutions and developing data solutions leveraging cloud components (AWS or Azure Specialty).
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of ETL processes including the ability to analyse existing ETL setup.
- Communicate complex data concepts to all relevant stakeholders.
- Analysis and design (modelling and graphical representations).
- Familiarity with SQL, SQL tools and general database principles.
- Knowledge of London market insurance.
- Excellent understanding of reporting database systems their design, particularly Kimball modelling methodologies.
- Excellent understanding of data warehouse systems, their function and the business requirements they are intended to service.
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, demonstrating ability to build effective relationships with individuals of all levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high degrees of ambiguity arising from a period of significant change.
- General knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies, including architectural and security concepts, systems development lifecycle, information management and portfolio management (production systems, release planning, change management).
- Experience of working in SAFe Agile development environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, demonstrating critical thinking and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and by collaborating with others.
- Experience with application of native AWS technology (Lambda, step functions, Glue, Athena, etc) advantageous.
- Experience with any of the following systems is advantageous: IRIS Rulebook.
- Experience working within Actuarial, Exposure & Risk Management, Asia Retail Markets and Regulatory & Risk spaces highly desirable.
- Experience working with emerging technologies such as AI within the insurance domain desirable.
- Experience working in the Insurance domain with experience of working on one or multiple Insurance specific solutions is highly desirable. We will however also consider applications who have worked with finance clients.
