About the Role: An opportunity to join the well-established and experienced Financial Institutions team within Liberty Specialty Markets. Exposure to a global portfolio of business ranging from SME accounts to large, listed multinationals. Look to maintain relationships with brokers, clients and business partners with a view to manage a personal renewal portfolio. Opportunity to develop and enhance technical underwriting skills with the help of the team and the internal Learning and Development department.
About the Department & Team: A market-leading team of 8 underwriters with a combined 50+ years’ market experience that works closely with financial institutions and brokers to provide effective risk transfer solutions. We offer a wide range of products to financial institutions across the world on a primary and excess basis and are supported by a dedicated claims team. Agile work environment – office and homeworking. Book split across company (Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE) and syndicate paper (Liberty Managing Agency Limited). Book of business is geographically diverse with a strong UK and US exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectives, including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business;
- Compliance with the production and issue of documentation in accordance with contract certainty requirements;
- Follow the annual business plan for the Underwriting division to make appropriate decisions;
- Contribute and participate in all meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice;
- Develop knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to support the performance of the underwriting team;
- Support the review and analysis of the portfolio, to identify progress towards business objectives;
- Process entries, as required, properly onto relevant systems in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures.
Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of relevant market conditions within Financial Institutions;
- Understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge;
- Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements;
- A high level of numeracy and literacy skills;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Experience gained within the financial institutions industry or insurance industry.
