The Liberty International Insurance (LII) and Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMRe) Actuarial Placement Year Programme gives you an opportunity to shape and influence your own career path within a world-leading insurance and reinsurance business. Our Actuarial Placement Programme offers an in-depth introduction to how our actuarial teams operate in the global insurance and reinsurance markets. Throughout the year, you’ll gain hands-on experience in various actuarial functions, equipping you with the skills and knowledge essential for an actuarial career. This placement allows you to explore rotations across different actuarial teams, deepening your expertise and insight into diverse actuarial specialities.

What You Can Expect: During your Placement Year, you’ll work within LII/LMRe’s actuarial team, contributing to live projects that impact the business while learning from talented and experienced professionals. You’ll have the chance to develop your skills, take on meaningful responsibilities, and contribute to critical decision-making processes. You’ll be supported by a structured training programme and benefit from customised development, networking, and mentoring opportunities. The placement includes a competitive salary, with potential pathways to a full-time role or a place on our graduate programme. What You Need to Succeed: We are looking for university students in their penultimate year, predicted to achieve a 2:1 or equivalent in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field, who:

  • Possess strong numerical and analytical skills with an aptitude for complex problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate keen attention to detail and a logical approach to work.
  • Show initiative and a proactive attitude towards learning in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are proficient in Excel and interested in programming or statistical software (experience with R, Python, or VBA is a plus).
  • Are fluent in English, both written and verbal; additional languages are a plus.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
