An international boutique law firm, based in the heart of the City, are looking for a Chinese speaking paralegal. This company is one of the leading firms for the Asian market in London, providing legal advice on matters of commercial, corporate, property, litigation and immigration. This is a fantastic and extremely interesting paralegal opportunity at a respected firm. This is especially exciting for any individual looking towards a training contract, as the company are willing to consider contracts following the completion of a 6 month probation period.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To write letters, emails, reports and other documents at a high standard in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).
- To make copies of any enclosures to accompany such letters, and to pay in or make requisitions for cheques where appropriate.
- To take all calls directed to the conveyancing department, re-directing the caller, dealing with the enquiries, or taking a detailed written message as appropriate for case handlers.
- To maintain your fee earner’s filing system in a neat and orderly manner.
- To organise, arrange meetings and appointments and check/maintain the diary of your fee earner.
- To open new files using the correct forms and procedure.
- To carry out conflict of interest and anti-money laundering checks for each new client.
- To make telephone calls to estate agents, clients and financial institutions.
- To ensure that deadlines are met in the preparation of typed documents and otherwise as directed.
- The ability to communicate at all levels (verbal and written) in both English and Chinese (Mandarin essential, Cantonese a bonus).
- Able to demonstrate basic conveyancing knowledge.
- Must be aware of administrative and clerical procedures.
- A polite, articulate and friendly manner.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office365.
- Good organisational skills.
- Must be entitled to work in the UK.
- At least degree educated in Law.
