The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the grid maintenance, refurbishment, and reinforcement works within Grid Management Services. Provides end-to-end oversight and supervision of the planning, scheduling, execution and delivery of capital refurbishment and maintenance work governed by prescribed asset management and maintenance strategies. Supervises crews engaged in the construction, remediation, and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution facilities and equipment. Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the maintenance teams. Sets priorities for the teams to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other supervisors. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by standards, policies, procedures, and business objectives; receives guidance and oversight from Maintenance Engineer and liaises cross-functionally with other departments. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of refurbishment, reinforcement, and maintenance work in accordance with prescribed strategies.
- Ensure delivery of maintenance, refurbishment and grid reinforcement works to meet desired performance targets and operational requirements.
- Delegate functional activities to subordinates; Maintain and supervise staff to ensure personnel and equipment safety.
- Work cross-functionally to identify, prioritize, and deliver work to meet operational requirements and company objectives.
- Ensure the accurate capture, collection, storage and compilation of field data and asset records to drive capital expenditure and operational improvements.
- Identify and track core materials to ensure availability for future works, estimating requirements for consumables, working in conjunction with procurement.
- Develop comprehensive work packages that effectively guide maintenance and refurbishment work.
- Provide work packages, and liaise with, Foreman for daily/weekly planning, scheduling, and execution of work.
- Ensure timely and effective inspection of structures and assets to drive operational improvements.
- Be Authorized to SAP 2 Level.
- Ensure Bermuda’s and BELCO’s health, safety and environmental rules and regulations are adhered to.
- Determine if special tools, equipment, or services are required and ensure availability through quarterly audits.
- Effectively manage and track personnel training competency to align with work requirements, inclusive of safety and environment.
- Provide and implement recommendations to improve processes that drive efficiency and operational reliability.
- Maintain close coordination with engineers and consultants regarding the design and construction of new assets and provide inputs regarding the maintenance of proposed installations and products.
- Accurately track work delivery with a view to improving quality and performance standards.
- Contribute to the development of policies, standards, specifications, and codes of practice.
- Respond to customer and vendor enquiries.
Supervisory Responsibility
Maintenance personnel within Grid Management Services.
Education and Experience
- Associates Degree, Level 4 NVQ, BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent in electrical engineering technology.
- Technical College Certificate or City and Guilds Craft Certificate level (Part II) or equivalent work experience.
- PEMAC Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Certification preferred.
- Incident Command System (ICS) Training experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of standard electrical maintenance practices, policies, and standards.
- Minimum (7) years of electrical operation and maintenance experience with transmission and distribution systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Projects.
- Experience working with enterprise asset management systems, Maximo and SAP experience would be an asset.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.

- Excellent project and time management skills.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, regulatory agencies and/or contractors.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, is able to utilize industry and support system knowledge.

- Strong report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver/present complex information clearly to ensure ease of understanding.
- Knowledge of BELCO’s Environment and Health.
