We are looking for a VP Liberty Tech Capital Allocation to join us in London. This is a pivotal finance-meets-technology leadership role sitting at the heart of Liberty Tech's investment strategy. Reporting to the CFO Liberty Tech, you will own the governance and process management of our multi-million euro technology capital portfolio across all operating companies. You will be the strategic advisor who translates complex network infrastructure decisions into clear financial implications, challenges investment assumptions with both technical fluency and commercial rigor, and drives the processes that ensure every euro spent delivers measurable value. This isn’t traditional finance—it’s high-stakes strategic influence where you will partner with CTOs and CFOs across our markets, shape C-suite investment decisions, and build a world-class capital planning function from the ground up. If you thrive at the intersection of telecommunications technology and financial discipline, know how to influence without authority, and want to leave your mark on how a major European telecom group deploys its capital, this is the opportunity.
What will you be doing?
- Design and manage annual and in-year CAPEX/OPEX planning cycles, delivering consolidated technology investment plans aligned to Group strategy and financial constraints.
- Assess major investment proposals across Mobile, Fixed, and Platform domains—evaluating technical assumptions, lifecycle costs, and ROI projections with the depth to credibly challenge CTOs and technology leaders.
- Chair investment review forums and drive decision velocity while maintaining governance standards, providing executive recommendations on prioritization, trade-offs, and risk mitigation.
- Act as the strategic bridge between Technology, Finance, and OpCos—building trusted partnerships with CTOs, CFOs, and OpCo leadership teams across multiple markets to drive alignment when demands exceed capacity.
- Establish and track KPIs for capital efficiency, ROI realization, and portfolio performance, leading quarterly business reviews analyzing investment performance, variance, and forecast accuracy.
- Build and lead a high-performing capital planning team, developing capabilities in financial modeling, telecom technology assessment, and executive communication while creating succession plans for specialized finance-technology hybrid roles.
- Drive continuous improvement in governance frameworks, tooling, and reporting quality—bringing a change agent mindset to transform broken processes and establish best-in-class capital management practices.
Essential
- Deep telecommunications technology fluency—solid understanding of Mobile (RAN, Core, 5G), Fixed networks (FTTH, HFC, DOCSIS), and platform infrastructure sufficient to challenge technical assumptions and assess lifecycle costs.
- Proven track record in capital planning, financial governance, investment management, or portfolio leadership roles within technology or telecommunications environments.
- Large-scale budget management experience governing CAPEX/OPEX portfolios across multiple business units or geographies.
- Executive influence skills—demonstrated ability to advise and challenge C-suite stakeholders, drive alignment across competing priorities, and navigate complex matrix organizations.
- Process design expertise—experience building or significantly improving capital governance frameworks, planning cycles, or investment review processes in large organizations.
- Strong financial literacy including budget planning, variance analysis, ROI modeling, NPV/IRR calculations, and business case development.
- Advanced financial analysis and modeling capabilities (Excel, PowerBI, or equivalent) with ability to work with large datasets and build executive-level reporting.
- Strategic yet pragmatic mindset—you think long-term but execute in the here-and-now, balancing ambition with financial discipline.
- Commercial sharpness—you know when to challenge, when to enable, when to escalate, and you’re not afraid of healthy conflict in service of better outcomes.
- Natural communication ability—you translate telecom jargon for Finance and financial jargon for Technology, earning trust from both sides.
Desirable
- Experience with financial planning tools (SAP, Anaplan, or similar enterprise platforms).
- Multinational or multi-OpCo experience in telecom/technology sector.
- Exposure to agile investment methodologies or lean portfolio management frameworks.
Preferred Education/qualification
- MBA, MSc in Finance, Engineering, or related field.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary + Bonus.
- 25 days annual leave with the option to purchase 5 more.
- Access to wellbeing and mental health benefits such as the Calm app, personal medical, critical illness cover and dental insurance.
- Matched pension contribution up to 10%.
- 24 hours of paid Volunteer Time Off.
- Discounted gym and wellness memberships.
- Access to our car benefit scheme.
- Access to our online learning platform to continue to develop and grow your career with us.
- The chance to join an innovative, fast-paced and passionate team.
