About the role:
The CTO will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for setting the technology vision, managing teams to develop scalable platforms, selecting appropriate hardware, implementing workflow management systems, and enhancing data analytics and reporting. The CTIO will also lead innovation and investment efforts to support expansion into new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain integrated workflow management, enterprise support, and data analytics systems to support business operations.
- Oversee the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of the Charge Point Management System (CPMS) that manages our charging network.
- Lead product development, including the selection and integration of hardware and software to ensure excellent customer experience.
The individual must be an excellent team player and leader, capable of strategic planning, with strong technical skills. The CTIO will provide leadership in:
- Technology Strategy & Vision: Define and execute a roadmap supporting EV network scaling, hardware-software integration, asset management, workflow systems, reporting, and customer experience.
- Infrastructure Innovation: Oversee design and deployment of CPMS, charging hardware, energy management systems, and software platforms.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a cross-functional team of engineers, product developers, and IT specialists.
- System Scalability: Ensure all systems are secure, reliable, and scalable for growth.
- Energy & Grid Integration: Lead initiatives in smart charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), renewable energy, and load management.
- Customer Platforms: Develop customer-facing apps, portals, and payment systems.
- Partnerships & Standards: Collaborate with vendors, OEMs, utilities, and regulators to ensure interoperability and compliance.
- Data & Cybersecurity: Establish cybersecurity protocols, ensure data privacy compliance, and leverage analytics for operational improvements.
- R&D Leadership: Invest in emerging technologies like V2G, AI, and smart grids to maintain a competitive edge.
- Budget & Supply Chain Management: Manage the technology budget and relationships with suppliers and partners.
- Company Leadership: Represent the organization on the SLT, contribute to communication and engagement strategies, and oversee collaboration across the business.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in computer science, engineering, physics, math, or related field.
- 10+ years in technology leadership, preferably in a scale-up environment.
- Knowledge of EV hardware, networks, cloud infrastructure, IoT protocols (OCPP, MQTT), and energy systems is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience with cybersecurity, data privacy laws, and mission-critical infrastructure.
- Hands-on expertise in software development, network architecture, and hardware integration.
