We’re looking for a Finance Manager (Management Accounts) to join us in Bradford, due to continued business growth. Working in a constantly changing, dynamic, fast‑paced and diverse environment, the Financial Manager is responsible for Management Accounting across companies within the footprint including Virgin Media. The role will suit a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate must be deadline focused with an aptitude for process improvement and simplification.
What will you be doing?
- Month‑end activities:
- Perform accounting processes across the organisation
- Prepare journal entities
- Prepare analysis and provide insight into areas of focus
- Work within internal reporting deadlines
- Make recommendations to improve and simplify processes
- Liaise with senior stakeholders and influence decision making across the organisation
- Implement an effective internal control framework
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, highlighting and resolving any issues
- Ensure compliance with SOx and other regulatory requirements
- Liaise with auditors and provide evidence and supporting narrative as required
- Ensure work is performed efficiently
- Identify opportunities to improve and simplify processes
- Work collaboratively to standardise processes
- Work with automation teams to automate processes
Essential
- Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.)
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
- Experience of working within large corporate structures
- Strong excel and financial systems skills (eg. Oracle, Hyperion/HFM)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach and develop others
- Experience of working in a complex environment, delivering to deadlines
- Experience of research into emerging / complex accounting or reporting issues
- Qualified Accountant with Management Accounting, and/or audit experience
- Assurance mindset – the ability to review accurately, but also to identify risks in processes and reconciliations and articulate/resolve/mitigate these as part of the monthly accounting cycle
- Communicator – to provide clear and meaningful interpretation of analysis conducted; to lead and control meetings with senior stakeholders
- Customer focused – to understand finance and operational stakeholder needs and requirements to provide excellent customer service, balancing challenge and support
- Collaboration – working across internal and external teams in multiple locations to deliver improvements and best practice within the team
- Self‑motivated – well organised, adaptable and resilient, responding to challenging priorities with urgency and pace; able to work under pressure
- Solution driven – creative thinker, open to change and different ways of doing things
- Efficient and agile – challenge the way things are done, having a critical eye, learning from activities and being prepared to try new ways of doing things; adopt a consultative approach with partners
