Libertatem Healthcare Group is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Paediatric Brain Injury Support Worker to support a young client with complex healthcare needs in his family home and within the community in Bromley, London. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Children's Support Worker, Complex Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Paediatric Carer, or Brain Injury Support Worker looking to make a meaningful difference in a child's life.
About the Client
You will be supporting a delightful 5-year-old boy living with:
- Dystonia
- Significant mobility limitations
- PEG feeding requirements
He enjoys books, music, nursery rhymes, sensory activities, light-up toys, bubbles, and watching his favourite TV programmes. He responds well to reassurance, companionship, and positive interaction. Please note that the family has a dog, so applicants must be comfortable working in a home with pets.
Key Responsibilities
As a Paediatric Complex Care Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver person-centred care tailored to the client's clinical and social needs
- Support with personal care, hygiene, dressing, and daily living activities
- Assist with mobility and safe moving and handling procedures
- Provide PEG feeding and enteral nutrition support
- Administer medication as prescribed
- Support seizure management plans, including rescue medication where required
- Carry out oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning
- Monitor the client's health and wellbeing, reporting any changes appropriately
- Facilitate sensory play, learning, and developmental activities
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement
- Accompany the client to appointments, activities, and community outings
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with family members and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Previous experience supporting paediatric clients in a care, support worker, or healthcare assistant role
- Experience working with children with complex care needs, including:
- PEG feeding / enteral feeding
- Seizure management and rescue medication
- Medication administration
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A caring, empathetic, reliable, and professional approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of accessibility and awareness of wheelchair-friendly routes, transport, and venues
- Full UK Driving Licence
