We have an excellent opportunity for a support worker to work alongside our client in Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk.
Our client is a gentleman in his 50\’s who lives in his own accommodation with 24 hour care, he enjoys photography and film, likes motorbikes, sailing and has recently started to cook his own meals with the support of his care team. Due to an acquired brain injury he has speech and language issues and requires support with mobility (though he is mobile), medication, accessing the community and attending appointments, alongside day to day needs around environment and cooking. He has been known to suffer with seizures but has not had one since 2022, he also has an extensive daily physio program which is supported by a physiotherapist at his residence.
Due to the clients support needs the successful candidate can be either female or male, will need to be a non-smoker, have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, be a clear communicator in English, be comfortable working alongside a very engaged family, be physically capable and a confident cook. They will also need to possess the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a solid, supporting relationship.
Pay: £16.00 – £18.00 per hour
Hours: 24 hours per week over two days (08:00 – 20:00 with sleep-ins)
Key Responsibilities
The Libertatem Healthcare Group (part of Sonderwell) was established to provide the very best levels of care and support for clients who have sustained personal injuries or suffered from medical negligence. Operating on a national basis, we provide our clients with care and support wherever they are located. Our packages put our client’s independence at the very centre of everything we do.
- Supporting, and engaging with personalised routines inclusive of hoists.
- Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
- Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
- Providing emotional support and companionship.
- Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in clients’ conditions.
- Collaborating with a range of healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with people and providing care.

- Reliability, commitment, and flexibility.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care.
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
