Liberis is building the world's most partner-centric embedded finance platform. We help the world's most exciting platforms — from eBay and Vagaro — offer personalised funding to their small business customers. We've already advanced over $3B in funding to over 50,000 businesses, and we're just getting started. We believe capital is just the beginning. Our Capital Platform — underpinned by rich data, intelligent agents, and a suite of configurable financial products — is built to unlock a lifetime of funding for every business, seamlessly embedded in the tools they already use.
At Liberis, we're building a global engineering team that thrives on autonomy, ownership, and focused on impact. Our engineers don't just write code — they solve real-world problems for small businesses, shaping products that unlock opportunity at scale. We believe in empowering teams to make decisions, move fast, and take full responsibility for the solutions they deliver.
The role As VP of Engineering, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our global engineering team and helping scale our platform to support our next phase of growth — which includes developing new products and partner types. You'll be building on top of a modern, API‐driven platform that already underpins multiple live products and powers partnerships with global names.
You'll be responsible for building an engineering culture that's fast, reliable, and relentlessly focused on impact - setting the bar for engineering excellence, guiding architectural decisions, and coaching a strong management layer and senior IC's, as we continue to redefine what a high‐growth, embedded‐finance organisation can achieve.
Partnering closely with Product, Data Science, Design and Risk Teams, you will lead in evolving the technical architecture of our platform, scale our AI-native underwriting systems, and ensure the team delivers robust, maintainable distributed systems at speed. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape our technology strategy, lead high-stakes delivery, and grow a world-class team across the UK and India.
The interview process:
- Screening call with Chess (Internal Recruiter)
- Video interview with Nima (CPTO & Hiring Manager)
- Leadership & technical deep dive with members of the Engineering Leadership Team
- Final stage with Nima & the Liberis Leadership Team
What We Think You'll Need:
- Proven success leading engineering orgs of 50+ in high-growth B2B or fintech environments
- Experience scaling modern, API-first platforms in complex domains (finance, lending, payments, etc.)
- You have strong people leadership skills, with a history of building, coaching, and retaining high-performing Managers, Staff / Lead Engineers, and their teams.
- You have a deep understanding of building distributed systems, data pipelines, and ML / AI-infused platforms
- You bring strong product and business instinct — you think in terms of outcomes, not tickets
- You're a natural collaborator — equally comfortable working with execs, engineers, and partners
- You have experience with embedded finance, open banking or payments infrastructure
- You have had exposure to underwriting, credit risk, or machine learning systems
- You have experience scaling teams in multiple geographies, especially India
If this opportunity feels like the right fit for your next career move, we'd love to hear from you! Even if you don't meet every requirement, don't hesitate to apply or reach out to Chess (Internal Recruiter) on chess.crossley@liberis.com.
