We have an opportunity within our Business Rates (NNDR) team for a full-time Visiting Officer to undertake inspections of business premises within North Somerset. The successful candidate will be required to produce detailed reports relating to visits they have undertaken and to gather & verify evidence. They will also need to have their own vehicle, clean driving licence and be able to plan a route of their proposed visits within the district. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed for business miles travelled.
The candidate will need to be confident in meeting new people and building strong relationships while gathering important data to assist the Local Council. They will also be responsible for maintaining key relationships with high-profile businesses within North Somerset, and for reviewing new builds within the area.
Key tasks and responsibilities:- Conduct NNDR inspection visits and advice relating to all manner of discounts and exemptions.
- Support members of the public in completing applications / changes in relation to NNDR.
- Gather and verify evidence in conjunction with assessments.
- Hand deliver notification of recovery intention / outcomes to members of the businesses.
- Produce and deliver completion notices.
- Produce reports relating to the visits.
- Provide basic revenue processing duties.
- Ensure knowledge is kept up to speed in relation to Liberata and site policies.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of relief reviews.
- Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and other persons affected by their work, comply with the Health and Safety Policy and cooperate with Liberata on health and safety matters at all times.
- Good planning and motivation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with the use of technology.
- Ability to work to pre-agreed targets.
- Ability to work under one’s own direction.
- Previous experience of an inspection/visiting role useful, though not essential.
- Access to a vehicle and a clean driving licence.
