About the Role
The Liberal Democrats are seeking an outstanding Head of Office to serve as the senior operational lead for the Leader of the Party. Working at the very heart of our political operations in Westminster, you will ensure the seamless daily functioning of the Leader’s Office, manage high-level stakeholder relations, and oversee complex national event and tour logistics. This is a unique, high‑profile opportunity for someone deeply organised and resilient to play a critical role in supporting the Party Leader and driving our political operation forward as we approach the next General Election.
Key Responsibilities
- High‑Level Diary & Executive Support
- Executive Support: Deliver comprehensive EA support to the Leader and the Chief of Staff (including complex diary management and administrative triage) and ad‑hoc PA support.
- Project Management: Spearhead various ad‑hoc political, administrative, and seasonal projects.
- Operations & Office Management
- Office & Budget Oversight: Maintain full operational oversight of the Leader’s office, including managing and tracking corporate card purchases, processing expenses, and ensuring a fully provisioned workspace.
- Front of House & Triage: Act as the professional face of the Leader's office, overseeing incoming public and political correspondence via the MP inbox and post.
- Team Events: Plan and deliver internal team away days and social events for Parliamentarians.
- Tours, Visits & Engagement Oversight
- Strategic Logistics: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all the Leader's external engagements, including national tours and constituency visits.
- Line Management: Directly line‑manage the Leader’s Visits Coordinator, ensuring rigorous attention to detail, timing, and political impact for all travel and events.
- Stakeholder Relations
- High‑Level Liaison: Serve as a trusted point of contact for senior stakeholders, including MPs, Peers, party officials, external dignitaries, and senior executives.
- Communications: Draft and manage high‑level correspondence with a nuanced understanding of political sensitivities.
Qualifications
- High‑level Logistical Skills: Exceptional organisational skills with a proven track record of managing complex calendars, moving parts, and event/travel logistics.
- High‑Pressure Resilience: The ability to thrive in ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and maintain a cool head under tight, unpredictable deadlines.
- Interpersonal Confidence: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and professionalism required to liaise daily with very senior public figures and executives.
