We’re continuing to grow at Liam Bacon Ltd / LB Roofing & Solar and are looking for an experienced Solar Electrical Compliance Manager to join our team. Following the recent securing of our second multi-year roofing framework, which will incorporate solar from Year 2, alongside a full order book for 2026/27, we’re investing in our team to support our continued growth.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation
• 18th Edition & BS 2391ECS/JIB G
• Old Card
• City & Guilds 2922-34 – Level 3 Award in Small Scale Solar PV
• City & Guilds 2923-34 – Level 3 Award in Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS)
• Experience in solar PV, battery storage and electrical compliance
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ideally working towards, or holding, NICEIC Qualified Supervisor status

The role will lead on quality, technical compliance, audits, certification and standards across our growing solar operation.

Role Description

The Solar Electrical Compliance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in South Yorkshire, responsible for ensuring that all solar PV and associated electrical installations comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies. This role oversees technical documentation, performs and reviews electrical designs, and conducts regular inspections, testing, and audits of installations to confirm compliance with MCS, BS7671, and other applicable requirements. The position involves collaborating closely with project managers, roofers, and solar installation teams to resolve technical issues, improve processes, and support safe working practices. The Solar Electrical Compliance Manager will maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes, manage certification and reporting, and provide training and guidance to colleagues on electrical compliance and best practices. This role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, quality assurance, and customer confidence in the company’s solar and electrical services.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and standards relevant to solar PV installations (e.g., BS7671, MCS requirements, G98/G99, DNO guidelines) and proven experience applying them in practice.
• Hands‑on experience with solar PV system design, installation, testing, and commissioning, including inverters, cabling, protection devices, and grid connection.
• Formal electrical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, City & Guilds, or equivalent, and a valid ECS/CSCS card; 18th Edition or current Wiring Regulations qualification is highly beneficial.
• Background in compliance, quality assurance, or electrical inspection and testing, with the ability to produce clear reports, technical documentation, and risk assessments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve technical non‑conformities efficiently.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with installation teams, management, and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
• Solid organizational and time‑management abilities to handle multiple projects, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
