We are recruiting a Fabric Technologist to work alongside their product development and technical teams, advising on fabric standards and procedures, sustainability, compliance, and care labelling. Sustainability experience and an understanding of Retailer sustainability and ESG goals is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Providing fabric technical support to the internal teams
- Supervising offshore fabric teams in Bangladesh, China, India, Turkey, and Vietnam, through weekly meetings to monitor critical paths and prevent delays in fabric production/testing.
- Ensure fabric is quality-managed to meet performance standards and market regulations while maintaining critical path dates
- Proactively troubleshoot possible production issues regarding fabric characteristics, technical construction, lead times, and colours, and provide solutions or recommendations to mitigate risks in bulk production
- Supporting offshore teams with implementation on corrective actions or solutions where fabric performance falls below expected standards
- Supporting on wash care instruction and wording where needed
- Maintain a database of Tier 2 suppliers, keeping documentations up-to-date and actioning audits with offshore teams
- Ensure customer raw materials policies are followed
- To ensure all technical files are kept up to date and actively work towards achieving ESG
- Providing support to offshore teams on mapping and visibility of the supply chain including fibre COO
Candidate Requirements
- Working experience min 5 years, fabric technology
- In-depth knowledge of woven and knitted fabric production and testing processes
- Confident in following up on supply chain management
- Understanding of sustainable fabric standards (Textile Exchange, BCI, etc.) and verification processes (scope certificates, transaction certificates, etc.)
- Informed on REACH regulations and other relevant global substances legislation
- Attention to detail, efficient, and able to work calmly under pressure
- Previous experience working with Tesco, Sainsburys and George SGS/Interlink/PLM systems is desirable
- Able to work independently and communicate confidently with colleagues and clients
- Self-starter / motivated / proactive approach
- Detail-oriented mindset, strong analytical and problem-solving ability
