A long-established consultancy firm operating in the nuclear and high-hazard sectors is looking to expand its specialist Risk and Safety team. They are seeking a Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor to join a diverse team delivering cutting-edge safety assessments and advisory services across the full lifecycle of nuclear projects. This is a permanent opportunity with flexible working arrangements, ideal for professionals who thrive in technical leadership roles and want to contribute to nationally significant infrastructure and safety projects.

As a Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor, you will play a key role in delivering safety case documentation and leading technical assessments for high-profile clients. You will collaborate with engineers, plant operators, and subject matter experts in areas such as Human Factors, Fire Safety, Criticality, and Radiological Shielding.

What you'll do:

  • Leading hazard identification workshops (e.g. HAZOP).
  • Developing clear, structured safety case arguments using C/A/E techniques.
  • Producing and managing comprehensive safety documentation across the plant lifecycle.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior consultants.
  • Managing client relationships and identifying opportunities for business development.
  • Contributing to the growth and capability of the wider safety consultancy team.

Your Background:

  • We are looking for technical knowledge and a proactive approach to safety assessment and consultancy.
  • Strong experience in nuclear safety assessment techniques, including fault analysis, DBA, LOPA, PSA, ALARP, and radiological consequence analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex technical projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A relevant degree (e.g. Physics, Mechanical/Chemical/Control Engineering).
  • Familiarity with UK nuclear safety regulations and standards.
  • Eligibility for security clearance due to the nature of the work.
