We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled VDI Architect to conduct discovery of an existing Citrix VDI solution to determine user personas, usage, utilization and software analysis. The outcome will determine future treatment decisions for use-cases moving to Laptops/Desktops, Azure VDI or potentially retention of on-premise VDI platform.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Deep expertise in VDI technologies such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft AVD.
- Previous experience of conducting discovery and analysis of existing environments to determine future solution designs and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical and user discovery.
- Design end-to-end VDI solutions based on business requirements and best practices.
- Lead the architecture, planning, and deployment of VDI systems including storage, networking, and security considerations.
- Evaluate, select, and implement VDI technologies (e.g., Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop).
- Ensure high availability, performance optimization, and disaster recovery of VDI environments.
- Collaborate with IT security, network, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to VDI engineers and support teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a VDI Architect or similar role (less hands on and more consultative).
- Expertise in Citrix, VMware Horizon and Microsoft AVD environments.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization, networking, Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform).
- Excellent stakeholder management and engagement.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Citrix CCE-V, VMware VCAP-DTM, Microsoft Azure certifications) preferred.
- Experience of App Layering; Containerization Technologies.
