About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor with up to 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) to join a well-established and growing Agriculture, Estates & Rural Property team within a leading North-East firm.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced specialists, advising a broad range of clients including landowners, farming businesses, estate owners, rural enterprises, lenders, and investors on a variety of rural property matters.

Candidates with experience in rural property law are encouraged to apply. Applications will also be welcomed from Commercial Property Solicitors with a genuine interest in developing a specialist practice within the agricultural and landed estates sector.

Key Responsibilities

Advising clients on some or all of the following areas:

  • Sale, purchase and leasing of rural properties, farms, estates, woodland and amenity land.
  • Easements, rights of way and access issues.
  • Agricultural tenancy matters, including succession issues.
  • Mineral ownership, title and registration matters.
  • Working mines and mineral extraction agreements.
  • Estate management and rural land administration.
  • First registrations and land registration matters.
  • Sporting rights, including shooting and fishing interests.
  • Secured lending transactions involving rural property, acting for borrowers and lenders.
  • Renewable energy and energy storage projects, including option agreements and lease arrangements for solar and other schemes.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor with 0-5 years PQE.
  • Proactive, motivated and capable of managing their own workload.
  • Technically strong with excellent attention to detail.
  • Commercially aware and able to provide practical, client-focused advice.
  • An effective communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Interested in networking, business development and helping to grow the practice.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with colleagues and clients alike.
