A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Interim Banking & Lending Lawyer to join its EMEA Legal team on a 6 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an interim finance lawyer to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, advising on a broad range of banking, credit and lending matters across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The role will focus on private wealth and commercial lending transactions, banking regulatory matters, credit documentation, and strategic legal support for the wider banking business.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on secured and unsecured lending transactions across EMEA
- Structuring, drafting and negotiating bilateral and syndicated loan agreements, overdraft facilities and related banking documentation
- Supporting private banking/high net worth lending matters
- Advising on cross-border lending and banking regulatory issues
- Reviewing and developing credit policies, standards and procedures
- Providing legal guidance to internal committees and senior business stakeholders
- Collaborating with legal teams across multiple jurisdictions
- Managing relationships with external counsel where required
- Delivering practical, commercial and solutions-focused legal advice
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified solicitor with current practising certificate
- Minimum 8 years’ experience gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house financial services environment
- Strong experience in banking, credit and lending transactions
- Excellent understanding of secured lending, multicurrency and cross-border financing arrangements
- Experience with private wealth lending and/or custody account security structures highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of current banking regulatory developments impacting EMEA markets
- Commercially minded with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Additional EMEA qualifications (Luxembourg, Ireland, Guernsey or Netherlands) are advantageous
