Senior Management Accountant Manchester City Centre Hybrid working - 3 days a week on site 6 month contract with a view to go permanent Salary is between £60,000 + £68,000 Lead Financial Excellence in a Growing Professional Services Environment We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Management Accountant to lead our Record to Report (R2R) function within a large, complex organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of financial reporting processes, lead a high-performing team, and drive continuous improvement across the finance function. The Role Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will manage a team of finance professionals and oversee the end-to-end financial close and reporting process. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial information, maintaining strong controls, and delivering valuable insight to support decision-making across the business. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop and motivate a team of Management Accountants and Assistant Accountants. Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journals and accounting schedules. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Produce management accounts, KPI reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary. Partner with key stakeholders to provide financial insight and support business decisions. Lead intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities. Support budgeting and forecasting activities through robust financial analysis. Act as a key contact for external auditors. Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and finance transformation projects. About You Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Proven experience leading a Management Accounting, Financial Accounting or R2R function. Strong people management experience, with the ability to develop and inspire teams. Experience working within a large, complex multi-entity organisation. Excellent technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls. Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach. Desirable Experience Professional services or legal sector background. Exposure to finance transformation, systems implementation or continuous improvement projects.
