Senior Legal Counsel
Are you a seasoned legal professional with deep expertise in the insurance sector and a passion for strategic impact?
A leading insurance provider is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its collaborative legal team. This is a high-profile role where you’ll lead on complex legal matters, influence business decisions, and help shape the company’s approach to risk and regulation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering strategic legal advice across the business, with a focus on insurance law, regulatory compliance, and commercial contracts.
- Leading negotiations and drafting agreements related to insurance distribution, underwriting, claims, and financial services.
- Managing legal responses to regulatory bodies including the FCA, HMRC, and other relevant authorities.
- Supporting broker and distribution activities, including consumer lending and County Court matters.
- Advising on company law and corporate governance.
- Collaborating closely with the Group General Counsel and deputising when required.
- Mentoring junior legal professionals and fostering knowledge-sharing across the team.
Flexible working options:
You can be based in the Manchester office with occasional in-person collaboration in the HQ (based in the South).
What you’ll bring:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister (or equivalent) with around 5+ years PQE.
- Strong background in insurance law, ideally gained in-house or in private practice within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and commercial contract law.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring others.
