Senior Legal Counsel – Global Risk & Health Sector

Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid, with occasional travel to London)

This is a high impact role within a specialist legal team, supporting a business unit with a strong international footprint and a focus on regulated services and cross border distribution.

The Role

This position is ideal for a lawyer with a strong grounding in commercial contracts, particularly in relation to international insurance matters. You’ll be advising on complex agreements and regulatory frameworks, with a focus on distribution, reinsurance, and corporate client arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead legal support for international insurance distribution and related commercial activity.
  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including third-party distribution, reinsurance, retrocession, and corporate client contracts for international health cover.
  • Provide legal input into tenders and competitive processes, ensuring risk is well-managed and aligned with commercial goals.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex legal queries.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions and advise on their commercial impact.
  • Support the business in maintaining compliance with internal governance and external regulatory requirements.
