About the role

Engineers form part of the Security Engineering Team (SET), an expanding team delivering IT security services to a client within the aerospace industry. The team operates across two primary sites in Derby, providing security engineering and operational support in varied technical environments. Team members are not fixed to a single location, allowing for diverse and engaging work.

The role focuses on three core areas of security engineering and operations:

  • Run Activity: Monitoring and maintaining the health of security tooling
  • Incident Response: Responding to security incidents related to tools within the SET remit
  • Request Management: Triaging incoming requests via the Engineering Team mailbox and service management queue, ensuring clear ownership and resolution

This is a hybrid role combining office, client site and home working. Home working is not available on a full-time basis.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity and availability of client IT security infrastructure
  • Operate in line with IT Service Management principles, including on-call and out-of-hours support
  • Maintain and monitor security toolsets including SIEM, IDPS, GVM and malware protection platforms
  • Record, investigate and respond to health alerts across managed security infrastructure
  • Tune policies, features and configurations in response to incidents and client requests
  • Troubleshoot and assess the impact of security tooling on business applications
