The Role

  • As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be a trusted adviser to key business functions, taking ownership of complex commercial legal matters across the organisation's UK and international operations.
  • The position will have a strong emphasis on the negotiation, drafting and management of commercial agreements, supporting both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of complex commercial agreements, including customer contracts, supply agreements, procurement arrangements, distribution agreements, framework agreements, service contracts, technology agreements and strategic partnership arrangements.
  • Advising senior business leaders on commercial risk, contract strategy and dispute avoidance.
  • Supporting sales, procurement, manufacturing, operations and wider business functions on contractual and legal matters.
  • Providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice that balances risk management with business objectives.
  • Leading contract negotiations with customers, suppliers, distributors and other key stakeholders.
  • Advising on dispute resolution matters, including management of external counsel where required.
  • Supporting corporate governance and company secretarial matters relating to UK legal entities.
  • Identifying legal and regulatory risks and developing practical solutions to mitigate exposure.
  • Collaborating with legal colleagues across multiple international jurisdictions to deliver consistent and effective legal support.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of legal processes, contract templates and governance frameworks.

Candidate Profile

  • We are keen to speak with commercially minded lawyers who enjoy partnering closely with the business and taking a practical approach to legal problem-solving.
  • UK qualification as a Solicitor (or equivalent qualification).
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience.
  • Significant experience advising on complex commercial contracts and business transactions.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting senior business leaders in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent ability to communicate legal risk to non-legal audiences.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple matters simultaneously within a fast-paced organisation.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to legal support.
  • In-house legal experience within a multinational organisation.
  • Experience operating within a matrixed or international business structure.
  • Exposure to corporate governance and company secretarial matters.
  • Experience supporting procurement, supply chain, sales or distribution functions.
