This is an opportunity to join a business where employee relations truly matters - not as a back‑office function, but as a critical enabler of operational performance, employee experience and commercial outcomes.

In this influential role, you will act as a trusted ER expert and people leader, providing pragmatic, high‑quality advice across a wide range of employee relations matters in a fast‑paced environment. You will take ownership of complex and high‑risk ER activity, while also leading and developing a small team of ER Advisors, setting the standard for quality, consistency and pace across ER delivery. This role offers genuine scope to shape ER practice, influence leaders, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider HR function.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of ER Advisors, ensuring consistent, high‑quality case management and a first‑class customer experience.
  • Provide expert guidance to line managers on the full spectrum of ER matters, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, probation and policy application.
  • Maintain oversight of ER case management activity, escalating high‑risk issues and providing clear insight to senior HR stakeholders.
  • Manage a personal caseload of complex ER cases while delivering ER‑related project work.
  • Review and enhance ER processes and practices, driving continuous improvement and best practice across the function.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support effective consultation and resolution.
About you:

You will be an experienced ER professional who is confident operating with autonomy and commercial judgement in an operational setting. Strong, hands‑on experience in an ER‑focused or HR advisory/management role within a fast‑paced environment. Proven capability managing complex and high‑risk ER cases, including investigations and hearings. Line management experience, with the ability to coach, develop and performance‑manage others. Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application. A CIPD Level 5 qualification (ideally). A resilient, pragmatic and solutions‑focused approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and hold difficult conversations. A continuous improvement mindset and passion for developing both yourself and others.
