We are partnering with a major UK defence and infrastructure organisation on the appointment of a Director of Legal, a senior leadership role with significant visibility and strategic impact. This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established legal function within a highly regulated, nationally critical environment, advising on complex and high-value matters that sit at the heart of major programmes.
The Role
- Reporting into the Chief Legal Officer, you will:
- Lead and shape the organisation’s legal function
- Provide strategic legal advice on complex regulatory, commercial, and operational matters
- Lead high-value contract negotiations and manage significant disputes
- Ensure robust legal governance in a security-sensitive environment
- Oversee and manage external counsel relationships
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, with exposure at executive level
Leadership Scope
- Lead a team of 20+ legal and governance professionals
- Play a key role in developing capability and driving high performance across the function
About You
- UK-qualified solicitor or barrister with demonstrable experience across the following areas;
- Broad legal background across commercial, regulatory, or infrastructure-related work
- Proven experience operating at senior level, influencing executive stakeholders
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to build and develop teams
- Experience within complex or regulated environments (e.g. defence, infrastructure, construction, procurement)
