Contract Test Systems Engineer – Test Hardware 6–12 month contract
Your impact
Are you interested in developing test systems and test hardware for leading aerospace and defence projects? This contract role focuses on the creation of test equipment and end-to-end test solutions supporting complex, safety-critical systems. You will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, contributing hands-on expertise across the full test lifecycle, from requirements through to validation and support.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver test equipment and end-to-end test solutions
- Specify, select and integrate appropriate test equipment for complex products
- Develop and execute robust hardware test cases aligned to system requirements
- Support testing activities across the full lifecycle, including development, integration, verification and validation
- Collaborate with engineering, systems and programme stakeholders to ensure test solutions meet technical and operational needs
- Identify and resolve test-related issues, supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement
What you will bring
- Proven experience creating test systems and test hardware within an engineering environment
- Strong background in hardware testing and structured test case design
- Experience selecting and specifying test equipment for complex products
- Comfortable operating across the full testing lifecycle
- Ability to work independently within a contract delivery model while collaborating effectively with wider teams
Essential experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical solutions within a multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Software integration experience using CVI, C and C++
- Integration experience within an NI TestStand environment
- LF and digital, as well as RF and microwave hardware integration experience
- Experience supporting offsite and overseas test integration activities
- Hands-on experience across the full hardware design process and lifecycle
- Working knowledge of relevant product safety legislation
Security clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Eligibility for additional National Security Vetting, including Security Check (SC), may be required.
