We are currently seeking an experienced M365 Data Migration Engineer to support a critical data migration programme for a leading defence client. The successful candidate will lead the migration of data from legacy network drives to OneDrive and SharePoint Online, supporting over 5,000 users. This role requires a hands-on engineer with deep technical expertise in Microsoft 365 migrations and experience with enterprise-scale migration tooling, ideally Sharegate. Flexibility for out-of-hours work, including evenings and weekends, is essential due to the nature of the migration schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and execute large-scale data migrations from on-premise network drives to OneDrive and SharePoint Online.
- Use migration tooling such as Sharegate to facilitate and monitor data migration.
- Collaborate with project managers, IT support teams, and end-users to ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance during migration in accordance with defence industry standards.
- Provide reporting and documentation of progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Support post-migration testing and user acceptance.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in Microsoft 365 data migrations, particularly OneDrive and SharePoint Online.
- Demonstrated success in migrating network drive data for 5,000+ users.
- Hands-on experience with migration tools such as Sharegate or similar platforms.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex migration challenges.
- Strong understanding of file permissions, data ownership, and SharePoint architecture.
- Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
