Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support Defence clients in the delivery of complex programmes and commercial activities. The successful candidate will provide expertise across procurement, contract management, supplier engagement, commercial strategy, and stakeholder management within highly regulated environments.
The role requires strong commercial acumen, an understanding of public sector procurement, and the ability to develop effective commercial solutions that deliver value for money whilst managing risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial and procurement strategies.
- Support sourcing and procurement activities from requirements definition through to contract award.
- Lead supplier engagement and tender evaluation activities.
- Manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Administer contracts and ensure contractual compliance.
- Support contract negotiations with suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Deliver commercial analysis, reporting, and governance documentation.
- Manage change control processes and assess associated commercial impacts.
- Contribute to business cases, options appraisals, and investment decisions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commercial management experience within Defence, Government, Infrastructure, or Major Programmes.
- Procurement and sourcing experience.
- Contract management and contract administration expertise.
- Commercial risk management and mitigation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience supporting tendering and supplier selection activities.
- Understanding of commercial governance and approvals processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- MOD or wider UK Government commercial experience.
- Knowledge of DSPCR, Procurement Regulations and Public Sector procurement processes.
- Experience of DEFCON, NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts.
- Supplier performance and KPI management.
- Earned Value Management (EVM).
Qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
