We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Mental Health Tribunal Panel Member to join an expanding Mental Health Team. With Legal Aid Agency contracts in London and Birmingham, along with a strong presence in three high-secure hospitals across England, this position offers a rewarding role within a supportive environment that prioritises flexibility and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Caseload Management: Effectively handle a personal caseload of mental health law files.
  • Client Representation: Advocate for clients in Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Section 117 aftercare meetings.
  • Compliance Oversight: Meet fee-earning targets and ensure adherence to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
  • Business Development Support: Contribute to department growth by generating new business and participating in marketing initiatives.

Remote Working:

The Mental Health Team operates primarily in a remote working model. Candidates should be comfortable working independently from home and demonstrate strong organisational skills and self-motivation. While remote work is encouraged, access to office facilities in Central London is available for those who prefer a hybrid arrangement.

Requirements :

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a current member of the Law Society's Mental Health Tribunal Panel (essential).
  • Have substantial experience in representing clients in mental health law cases.
  • Be highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing a varied caseload remotely.
